Import saved Markdown files into Notion

Tabvenir 0.0.1 saves ordinary Markdown files. Notion can import them, but importing turns your local collection into content in a Notion workspace.

Start with one checked local note

Save a supported public article to a folder, or extract the ZIP before using the files. Open the Markdown locally and check that the text you need is present. Keep the original exported folder as a backup rather than deleting it as soon as import succeeds.

For a large collection, test an article containing headings, a list, a code block and an image first. You can then identify which parts of your particular collection need cleanup before importing the rest.

Use Notion’s Markdown import

In the Notion desktop or web app, open Settings, choose Import, then Text & Markdown and select the saved files. Choose the destination workspace or page using the controls Notion presents. Consult Notion’s current help page if the menu or supported limits differ.

After import, check the resulting pages in Notion. Importing a .md file does not reproduce the source website’s design. Local image references and advanced Markdown may need adjustment; do not assume every asset was uploaded just because the page text appeared.

Keep a useful source trail

Tabvenir 0.0.1 includes the source URL in Markdown metadata. Keep that URL when cleaning the note so you can return to the original page. The 0.0.2 update awaiting review also adds a clickable source link in the note body.

If a source has access restrictions or changed after saving, the exported note may differ from what a colleague sees at that URL. Record your own reading date or annotations when that distinction matters. A clipping is a reading aid, not proof that you own the source material.

Optional direct Notion saving in the submitted update

Version 0.0.2 has been submitted to the stores for review. It adds a personal Notion connection and a target page in settings, followed by an explicit Save to Notion action. Until your store copy receives that update, use the manual import workflow above.

Direct saving sends the selected content to Notion’s API, not to a Tabvenir server. The personal connection token is retained for the browser session and cleared on restart or disconnect. Grant the connection access only to the destination pages you intend to use; Notion controls workspace permissions and storage.

Local images are not automatically uploaded by that connection. An image may remain represented by its original public URL, which can expire or fail to load. Review a saved Notion page before treating it as your only archive.
