Saving tabs as Markdown: FAQ
From your first save to the tabs that need to stay open.
Getting started
What can I save?
Selected browser pages become Markdown notes with source links and downloaded images, where extraction succeeds. Choose a folder or a ZIP archive. Complex apps, paywalls and incomplete pages may need review.
Which browsers are supported?
The current extension targets Chrome and Edge 144 or newer. Incognito mode, Firefox and Safari are not supported in this version.
Do I need an account?
No Tabvenir account is needed. Processing and notes stay on your device. The current version has no hosted AI feature, cloud sync or subscription service.
Which languages are available?
The extension has English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Arabic, Czech, Polish, Swedish, Norwegian, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. The website uses the same language choices, including separate Brazilian and European Portuguese versions.
Saving notes
Can I import saved pages into Notion?
Yes. Export Markdown, then in Notion on desktop or web choose Settings → Import → Text & Markdown and select the .md files. Check images and formatting after import. Direct Notion saving is not available in the published version.
Obsidian & Notion guideWhy can’t I choose Downloads?
Browsers restrict some broad or sensitive folders. Create a Tabvenir subfolder inside Downloads or Documents, then choose it. You can also use ZIP output.
Why does folder access need confirmation again?
The extension can remember a folder handle while the browser requires a new read/write permission confirmation. Use Reauthorize in the extension and allow access in the browser dialog.
When is a ZIP considered saved?
With download permission, completion is checked through the browser. Otherwise, download the file, verify it is present, and use the saved confirmation. Tabs are not closed just because a download link appeared.
Does this work with Obsidian?
Yes. Save into a folder in your Obsidian vault, or extract a ZIP there with its assets folder. Notes are ordinary Markdown files. Open them from the vault; automatic opening is not available in the published version.
Obsidian & Notion guideWhat if a saved page is incomplete?
Read the batch report and compare the note with the original page. Open the page and retry if content had not loaded. Extraction cannot guarantee every website layout, and warnings can keep the original tab open.
Closing tabs
Can I save without closing tabs?
Yes. Turn off Automatically close tabs after saving, even before choosing a folder. The preference is remembered for new batches; the confirmation page can change it for one batch.
Why are some tabs kept open?
Pinned tabs, unsaved input, incomplete content, activity after capture and certain interaction states can trigger safety protection. The report explains the reason. Automatic closing never means every selected tab must close.
What does “page interaction needs review” mean?
Capture found a browser activation state it could not confidently clear. The batch keeps that safety flag, so waiting or repeatedly clicking close may not remove it. Check for unsaved work and close the page yourself if you are sure.
Privacy & your files
Are my notes uploaded?
No automatic upload sends your notes or tab list to the developer. Images are requested from their original hosts, and those hosts receive ordinary request information. Voluntary support email is separate.
Does uninstalling delete my notes?
Exported files stay in the folder you selected. Browser-managed extension settings and recovery data are normally removed. Delete exported files yourself if you no longer need them.
