# Organise research tabs into a Markdown source collection

A research folder needs more than downloaded articles. It needs a question, a source trail and a record of what each source contributes.

## Name the question and select the sources

Write a short project question before exporting your tabs. Keep primary sources and useful background, then separate pages you have not yet evaluated. A large save count is not a measure of research quality.

Leave interactive databases, forms and documents you are editing open. For each selected public article, make sure the relevant section has loaded before preparing the batch.

## Save a checked batch to a project folder

Use a dedicated folder or an Obsidian vault subfolder and begin with a few representative articles. Check text, tables, code and images after saving. If one export is incomplete, record the limitation and keep the original URL available.

Tabvenir 0.0.1 preserves source URLs in the note metadata. Version 0.0.2, awaiting store review, also adds a clickable source link in the note body. Keep either form when editing the files.

## Create an evidence index

Write your own index note with one entry per source: the question it addresses, the claim you may use and the original URL. Include page or section references when available. Mark uncertain claims rather than allowing a polished clipping to imply certainty.

Do not cite an extracted paragraph without checking it against the original. Page parsing can omit context, a footnote or an embedded table. Your notes should distinguish quotations, summaries and your own interpretation.

## Keep annotations and backups separate

Annotate the exported note or link it to a separate analysis note. If you share the collection, respect the source licences and avoid including private content or credentials.

Before closing the browser session, confirm important files open and any needed images are local. Back up the project folder with its assets. A working copy in a note app should not be your only protection for material you cannot easily recover.
